well , I got to my friends mothers house which was built in 1802, everywhere I swept the detector went nuts, I realized about 30yds behind the house are high tension wires for amtrak and I think it was giving me bad signals, So I left there and went to the deleware river, It was low tide and I swpent about 1 1/2 hours hunting, I came up with a 1945 Nickel, 1957 Quarter, 1943 penny and a 1943 pennie, I also found a really old pocket knife, all of this was in a 50'X50' area which looks like an old dock or something. oh and about 8 fishing weights. I saw on the other forum about cleaning and I might do the vinager and salt thing. Any one have any favorites?

It's disappointing that you didn't find anything around a house that's been around so long...but it sounds like you had a great time hitting the river bed. Congrats.

Don't give up on the old house. As you learn your detector, you will get better. I'm not familiar with the one you have, but you may be able to adjust the gain and the sensitivity to lessen the electromagnetic interference.

Yup!
Turn down the sense knob until the power lines go silent. It would be worth a try, anyway.

Sometimes cell phone towers can do the same thing. ;)

You are doing an AWSOME job. You must have great abilities to do so well so fast. As you fine tune your abilities with your machine, you will do great. As everyone says, don't give up on that old home site. Welcome to the Forum.
