Hi all. Got out for a cold but rewarding hunt this morning. I apologise for the pics, but I not only need help identifying the coin, but tips on cleaning it are also sought. I rinsed it with water and lightly scrubbed it with a soft toothbrush to get the little detail visible so far. Am hoping there's enough for you old coin experts to say what it is. Should I do the hot peroxide bath? I am guessing a weak electrolysis (homemade setup with cell phone charger) would not be recommended? Thanks for your help in advance. Better pics will come upon cleaning.

With the wear that coin has, cleaning it much more isn't going to help.

If you want as much detail as you can get use a graphite pencil and paper and do a rub. That is how I got the date off my 1718. Then I sprayed the paper with hair spray to keep the graphite intact. Still an oldie. Good Job Old Dude!
