My oldest, and most awesome CRH'ing find. ***MORE PICS ADDED***whatsit? &foreign
So, I got a bag today, of halves of course... Not much silver just a few 40%ers. , but I did find my oldest coin to date... It isnt silver, and its only a penny, but I think it is cooler than most silver halves you are gonna find. It is a large cent. Unfortunately, it is pretty beat up so I havent been able to figure out what date it is yet... I am close, and I just need to find my loupe and spend a minute to try to figure it out. It is one of the ones that has a line underneath cent, on the back... So I believe that means it is 1837 or older.... I will do some more searching, and try to post decent pictures...
There is also a whatsit.... I have no idea where to even begin, so maybe I will post of pic of it too... see if anyone here knows a direction to point me in maybe.
Thanks. Chris.
If anybody has any suggestions on how to determine the date, or if there is a way, that would be amazing.. I think I can recall hearing about a way to do restore the date possibly without ruining the coin? Is that possible, or just wishful thinking?
