My Old One Room School

I went to a similar school in Northern Wisconsin. The building was a little larger. Three teachers taught grades 1 - 8. I am convinced that it was a better system than we have today.

I attended a couple one-roomers myself; in New York and Wisconsin. There would be a couple rows of one grade, couple rows of another and so on. Same teacher taught all the grades. At one school in Wisconsin, the kids (upper grades) even took turns sweeping the hallway by sprinkling floor sweep on the floor and pushing wide brooms to sweep it up. Also cleaned blackboards and no one complained about child labor laws....it was kinda fun at the time.

Hi ya, Granny,

I know what you mean about the old pics, they do bring back some good old memories. The kids now-days spend so much time on TV and video games and don't know or will never know how good activities can make for great memories in years to come.
Thanks for your statements.

hello, jerry-wi,

Yes, I immagine Wisconsin along with Minnisots was spardely settled like Michigan with a lot of one-room schools. We
share a similar past. Thanks for replying.

Hi packerbacker,

I was surprised that you attended a one-room school in New York. But as I think about it back in those days there probably was one-room schools in most of the states in the lesser-settled areas. I also remember cleaning the blackboards and the eresers. Most of the kids liked to clean the erasers cause it gave them a chance to get outside during school
hours. LOL

Thanks for taking the time to respond to my pic.
