Went by my old grade school where I attended 50 years ago.? I intended to detect the play ground but it is fence off and the gate is locked.? I talked to a member of the school board and he said he didn't have a key but just go ahead and climb over the gate.? I tried.? I'm too old and fat to climb over gates I found out!? Darn, I hate when that happens!? Tomorrow morning at daylight I will be there with my stepladder!? The school yard hasn't been detected at least not in years according to the schoolboard guy.? Should yield lots of clad at least? and perhaps a ring or two I hope!? It's a big area and may take a couple of mornings to cover it all.? Here goes nothing!? ?JIM

Photos show scroll and other what is its.? They are solid brass and I found six of them.? They show up on the detector as quarters!? ?JIM

??? about the 1st two. Could the scroll be a memento of maybe a 6th grade graduation even though they're a little small----kind of like a class key for Senior Graduation.

Funny you should mention this, Jimmi. I just stoped by my old high school ( about 3 weeks ago ) and saw one of the grounds keepers mowing the grass. I talked with him and ask if it would be ok to detect on the school grounds, he said sure, he didn't see what it would hurt. The funny part is that everytime I've been back there since then the gate has been locked. Not sure what the deal is, but I haven't climbed the fence yet... ;D You be carefull climbing over that fence...
Good luck & Happy hunting~

Stoney, that little scroll is part of something else, maybe a brooch or something. I can see where it broke off.? It is really heavy for its size and non-ferrous metal. Since the ends were so bright and shiney I think it is at least gold plated? ?I found eight of those other things.? they are about 2" long and are notched through the head, made of solid brass it looks like.? They have some white paint on them so they must have something to do with construction??The school had old windows replaced within the last year so I am thinking they may have been set in concrete and the old window frames slid throuigh the notch to hold the windows in? JIM Some detective I am, huh?

Not bad Jim, I was just seeing little scrolls with what looked like ilttle red ribbons tied around them.
BTW, take an extra pair of pants with you, I can just imagine you having a ripping good story coming.

I believe stoney nailed it, it's a graduation charm:

Be careful! Good Hunting! --omnicognic 8)

The little piece where it broke off must have been the little ring that held it to the charm bracelet. Being so heavy it could be gold? Looks just like the one in your picture Omni, thanks! JIM

Little kitty cat pin.

I'm not positive, but the non-scroll items look like they may be the platforms and handles for stamps. You would have a box of rubber letters, numbers and other symbols that would slide into the slot on the wide platform. Once you had the word/words set up you pressed it into ink and then applied it to the paper. I had a stamp set when I was a kid, but the handles were made of wood, not brass.

These are made of solid brass and very heavy. They all have a little dried paint on them so I am still inclined to think they have something to do with the construction of the old steel case windows at the school. JIM

That's a "hello kitty" pin !

;)

Tell me a little about the pin Nana. The pin is missing off the back but you can see whee it went. It's made of brass and looks hand painted. JIM

Those "t" shaped things might be scaffolding dogs, used to lock scaffolding together. Or they may be workbench dogs to hold your work from flying off the workbench.
Just thought I would add my 2 pennies worth.
