I was starting to get a bit disgusted with my plain button count so decided I wouldn't post until I got an early military or a silver coin. It took 3 hunts but finally it came, and it's not pretty but definitely counts. When I look at my little pile I'm actually quite surprised because we were doing the mad scramble for sites, but did find a new field for hunt 2, which is in a new area and I know there will be more. No record breaking finds but I certainly enjoyed digging it all! ;D

What's the pointy thing in the center of the 2nd pic?

Some type of finial, not exactly sure off what.

It looks familiar...you sure it's not a scabbard tip?

Scabbard tips aren't solid like that. (heavy brass)

Gotta ask: what is that piece dated 1838? Hard Times token? Thought they were usually a little later, say 1840-1850?

I'd call that one great hunt...still looking for that RP button myself...seems everyone finds one here but me, I just get those pesky 2nd americans all the time LOL...
Looking at that 7 day hunt soon IP...will be in contact soon with dates...

sweet relics!!!!!!! MR TUFF

That is a great bunch of relics there....Alot of finds for 3 hunts in my book...My last 2 hunts produced only a barber Quarter...And a Injun...Only one button, Atleast it was a tombac...So id be very happy with all those relics...The rev war button is icing on the cake :icon_thumleft:

Those are really nice finds man.

But however I do understand were you are coming from. Us die hards are always looking for that better find than the last. Or we want to find enough good stuff to build an empire of finds at some point.

Don't worry man your gonna hit that gold spanish or something here soon with sites like that. Those are some nice relics though man.

Not one thing wrong with those finds IP,But I know what you mean about the itch to find the great things.I think we all have it to some extent, some worse then others  But I trying a new tactic.Trying to have a piece of mind and relax and not worry about driving myself crazy looking for the one as after I would find it I'd be looking for another. :laughing7: You know what I mean.Just enjoy the hunt and settle in on them spots.I think being relaxed and happy being out will get us there. You've been down this road before as long as you have been doing it I know. You've already found great things and there will be more GUARANTEED.
Take Care,
Pete :hello:

You've got a real nice pile of goodies there, its always good to see a RP, regardless of what shape its in. I am a bit suprised that you didn't pull up any silvers........yet. I think from now on i'll have to start calling you RP instead of IP!

On our hunt yesterday Ironhorse said exactly the same thing goes for me... I just want something interesting I don't already have. So in this case my favorite find is the P. P copper because it's different, and a couple of the tokens are also different, but one is very rough. Our sites are usually the same time range so we dig a lot of doubles, even some very obscure stuff we never thought we'd even find one of.

Oh so it is going to happen. Yeah let me know because I have to start working on a plan considering how much ground we were covering in three days. Maybe we'll just pick 7 different areas and hit each one all day. :headbang:

I used to drive myself crazy to find quailty finds and it worked, but now I don't, and it also works. I can't still get frustrated when I dig lots and get nothing, especially if good stuff is being found right beside me, but for the most part it's just about being out. Like anywhere else it's just a numbers game so the only goal we really have when we head out is to find an old site to dig targets, and almost every time out we end up somewhere we didn't expect to be so it's always interesting.

James if you hunted here a while you wouldn't be surprised there was no silver. We can go quite a while and dig one pile of stuff between them. They are certainly out there, but definitely not something we expect too often. My average is about 2 Spanish per year and I'm only hanging on to that average because my first 5 years were pretty good.

I'd rather be called "USA" than "RP", it would be a nice change but a very unlikely find here.

A nice bunch of old coins and relics there ! Good things are waiting for you again my friend ! MaineRelic
