Well not too much to look at and wasn't going to post until I found something nice but figured a group hunt of my last couple of hunts added up... Most of the musket balls were found with Iron Patch, along with 4 coins (Geo II-1740, 6 denier, 1812 token and wore out french coin), the other coins were from my other hunts and include George II and III with disk coppers. Other finds include; ox shoe, old knife, buckle, ramrod thimble, tombac buttons and one 2 piece designed button...

Remember I said our George II coins would date very close. That's why that site had so little, it was probably only there a year or two.

We're up to 85 musketballs and you know that place ain't done yet. Will be quite a haul for the things by the time it's over.

I still believe to that site will pop out something with the WOW factor in it... just hope I'm there to see it... Yes 85 musket balls out of that one small site...just to think I dug over 100 out of one hole years back...

I'm also very interested in the next field over too. When IH and I were there we were way on the other side... so there could have been an entire village and we missed it. That will definitely go on the Fall or future dig list.

I'D TAKE THAT HAUL ANYDAY

Can't complain about those finds!

The feeling of seeing something that no one has seen in the last 250 years or so always gets my digging juices flowing, again, it's always nice to see something popping up and to know there's still some sites left hit!

Nice finds! That many dropped musketballs is a good indicator of a military site. Of course if they are pre Rev War, the buttons won't be marked, but maybe some other nice military related relics will show up.

The coins are rough but just enough to date a couple and outline of others...that's the problem with coppers...I would like to change that with a high quality silver :hello2:

Great finds Patriot. Are the coins worthy of any closeups?

Great stuff! Coppers are still fantastic to dig, and you never know when that elusive military button will turn up. Judging from our totals this year, we're overdue. But you know how it is. Life never works out in terms of odds.

Cheers,

Buck

It looks as if you guys are right in the time frame you need, I agree the site could throw out a good trinket...or two

We had a much larger site very close that had both early French and Rev War military, so even though everything in this little field has been French so far, there's always a chance. There's also still the possibility of another small site in the field because we only did one quick walk then went back to the bottom where the French finds were. There field to the East also just got more interesting too. It was said to have Indians (not sure what type), but I have to wonder if maybe it was the remnants of a French site.

Yes I guess when you look at it that way, we are spoiled but when your used to having days like that all the time, and that being an accumulated hunt then you can see where I'm coming from...I hope to get out for some other decent hunts soon...

You guys have done quite well at that site. Looking forward to seeing what other goodies you can pull out (outside of the lead which is a given it seems).

The sites you guys are hunting are great.... and the finds.... equally great!:notworthy: Keep hitting those old fields. :headbang:
