My largest tiger shark tooth at the Peace River yesterday

Thanks.. That's my best one I wish you could have seen how I found it.
I was moving out of the way the biggest blue claw crab I think I've ever seen..and he scooted right to it.
It looked like the end of a branch sticking up only about 2 inches of it.
Something about it just didn't look right for a piece of wood.. No algae or shiny bark on it or anything..so I tapped it with my probe.."tink"

Anytime the water is low is best for screening.
The daily water level is provided online.
No real tips other than the river is constantly changing.. The idea is to find a gravel layer and sift that material for teeth and other fossils.
Places like bends in the river tend to gather gravel.
I guess one tip would be... Use a probe and find layers of gravel that aren't obvious and don't be afraid to dig a deep hole.
Also.. Look for areas of the river bank that are steep and show erosion as well as a darker grayish clay and gravel layer and find where that material has gathered just downstream from it... Or if possible Dig directly to that material below the sand layer in the river.

Don't forget to be mindful of your surroundings as snakes, gators and turtles call the Peace River their home.

Thanks.. The snakes worry me more than the alligators.. I was there today saw one alligator.. Those water moccasins are a lot more aggressive and tend to chase you around especially when you're in the water.

morning

wow dont stick your hand in there to see if its working, lol

Oh I've done it.. Accidentally of course.
First I look around to see who punched me in the back then I go flip the breaker back because the lights went out.. I need to shake the hand of the man that invented the GFI

He saved many lives. Dam it is cold

Gonna need it. Might as well bring a mask and snorkel too. Hit some of the deeper holes. Good luck!

Exactly how large is your mayumbensis? (or is it a modern?)

Nice finds, GB.

Late to the thread, but would suggest that this one is likely a "modern" or extant..... Galeocerdo cuvier based upon the depth of that distal notch.
