Found this little coin right before sun down tonight. Found a 1903 IH toasted pretty bad around 2:30 today.
Left the park around 3 and picked up my daughter from school. After dinner I got to thinking about that IH and where I found it and decided to go back and just take another look see.....
Well low and behold 2 feet from that hole I get a repeatable tone and TDI.

And the reward is this little beauty.
Probably never top this but I'll sure will be out there trying................

Congratulations on the gold find! I am glad you listened to your "inner voice" and returned to the site.

BIG congrats! Nicest 2 1/2 I've seen dug, truly the find of a lifetime! Go out and find her sisters now and show us the pix please. HH

Thanks each and everyone of ya'll for your kind comments. It is this site and the people who support it that have fueled my desire and enthusiasm for this hobby. Not everyone appreciates the history behind our finds and Tnet is a haven for us and a digital museum for our finds and the history behind them.
HH and GL

Congrats on the banner! What an awesome find :notworthy: Isn't it strange how the thought was nagging you to go back and check the hole? Great intuition ( or luck, 6th sense). Doesn't matter because you scored a great piece of history!

Wow, frickin' fantastic!!

Nicely done. What a gorgeous, golden find!

All the best,

Lanny

That's so friggin awesome! I can't wait till the day I find a gold coin. :?

Congratulations on the find of a Lifetime! Beautiful Coin!!!

Hope that's an omen... My grandfather had four gold coins two were 2.5's...One was lost, no clue. One 2.5 he gave to his daughter for a college degree, the other he carried it in his pocket, everyone tried to tell him to no avail. It turned up missing, all sure he spent it. He past many years ago and I reminisce about life on the farm. Things like his daily constitutional down the gravel road and back and how my grandmother ranted about that heavy Barlow knife pushing holes in his pants pocket. Fast forward to present and me detecting on the farm and ....can't figure for the life of me why I've found eleven dimes and no other silver on that road? Wait a sec...is a 2.5 larger or smaller than a dime...

Finding a gold coin affords you some serious bragging rights. Congrats.

I love Gooooold! Especially dug gold
