DCMATT, do you have a problem with my thread? "It's a box!" Is this how you respond to other people's threads? Did I offend you in anyway? Every one else who responded to my thread showed respect but you. Why? Maybe I'm taking it the wrong way but by the way you responded with a !, it seems to me that my thread is a joke to you. Is that true?

I think his response was taken wrong -- I don't recall ever seeing an offensive post by Matt.
He took the time to discern that a quite likely maker was Pal Bell, noting some of the design features.
I took it to be humor pointed as the anti-climactic nature of the answer, which very well may be correct.

I haven't seen one like it, so this is JMHO, but I think that it is definitely a box, not a trivet. It would make a very unsteady trivet (I collect them). My first impression agrees with Stefan's - for potpourri - a container with a very open worked top, designed to let the aroma out.

More importantly, it's a gift from grandma, who had it for 60 years, how cool is that?
