Well went out today for my first actual run, second detecting attempt ever. (My first day was just a dry run/ testing day.)
I am in the cold cold north of NYS and well I hit a beach cause that is the only place where the ground isn't frozen solid. Low and behold, bang I found these babies.

One ring, not sure if it is real but sure looks it.
I also found two 1943 zinc pennies (where do I look for the mint on them as I know it makes a big difference?)

Very nice!! Love to see such good finds! Keep searching! It only gets better. 8)

Get yourself a 30x jewelers loupe on eBay.....cheap......like $3.00 or so. It will help you a LOT in seeing the maker's marks and symbols, even if badly worn (it won't make them come back, of course, but, it does make them easier to see).

Congrats, your way ahead of the game.
