I agree with Toasted, it's a quarter cut fro a 2 reale pistareen, which would have equated to a half real.

I was using an Equinox 800. The VDI number was actually a little lower that i would expect, around 21-24. Probably because it's so small but the funny part is that i was going over an area that my buddy had dug the day before and the reale was barely under the surface. Evidently he had dug it up but missed it. ALWAYS double check your holes!
 

I have been researching Reales and i think this may actually be a 1 Reale. If you look right above the J on the right side you can see the bottom of what looks to me like an I which would be a 1 Reale If it was a 2 Reale i think it would be II
