Today I found this copper and brass powder flask. I had dug a few cans today and when i got this signal it sounded like I'd had anouther. I was surprised to uncover the flask.

After digging the flask i began slowly sweeping the area, about a foot away i got a crisp high tone. I thought i had a coin to go with my flask, however it turned out to be the brass top. I searched the area and couldn't find the spout.

If anyone has any information on this find please post. I have found examples of this flask but not have an accurate date range or manufacturer. I found a large flat button nearby (large plaid pattern).

The other 3 buttons came from a colonial site on my buddies property.

Those powder falsks are awesome. Great other finds as well!!!!!!

I found one last year. The manufacturers name was on the spout. I remember that I also thought it was a crushed aluminum can when I dug it! That's why you must dig everything!

really cool

Very nice finds of the powder flask and the buttons. Well Done on saving some History.

Very nice powder flask and buttons! Very exciting. What is the item with two small holes and a center hole? Any idea?

Nice finds! It's a small miracle to get that flask out of the ground in one piece!

That is the top that goes on the flask.
The center hole is threaded and the spout screws into that, the two small holes are threaded also and the lever/valve and spring attach to the screws that hold them. The top should have two tiny screw holes on the side to lock the top to the groove you can see on the top side ring of the flask.
