Got my first medal detector a couple of weeks ago and have been playing with it trying to learn the various tones and using the digital ID scales. So far I have found 73 modern pennies, 3 modern nickels, 13 modern dimes, and 3 modern quarters. Have also found and old spoon from a catholic seminary college dating back to 1843 and used up to around 1975. This old seminary is also very near an old civil war fort on the Mississippi river. Also found on the seminary site was the V shaped buckel, the unknown medal object directly above it and the medal ball above that and the object that looks like part of a hinge to the right of the buckel and the old skeleton key. Also pictured is an old toy gun hammer, padlock key, some sort of medal clover that was attached to a longer rod. 2 childrens rings, a barrett and butterfly hairpin, childs braclet, small chain, small gold colored cross, a D ring, split ring, button pin and an old Oreint coal tag. Also pictured are 4 wheat pennies dated 1941, 1952 D, 1952 D, 1935 D, and a 1961 dime.

Hi B, That's a great start you have there! Save me some! I'm going to be THing in Stone County (Mo.) over the Thanksgiving holiday. My dad has a 135 year old house there. We found pics of it from waaaay back. This is my first year with my Ace 250 and hope the ground stays thawed for another week or so. Wish me luck! Welcome to the forum!

I am using a Bounty Hunter Pioneer 202 which I believe is the same machine as the Quick Draw II. I forgot to mention the "thousand square cut nails" I found that are driving me nuts. Currently trying to get permission to search a community picnic ground in a small town not far from here where they used to have a yearly picnic around the first part of the century. There used to be an old post office and store there as well. Town is almost non existant these days. Maybe 25 people still living there. Also plan to check the site of an old town on the Mississippi that is no longer there. It has been gone since the turn of the century.

Congrats on the finds and your first post. I haven't got the nerve yet or the photo software yet. Keep on hunting.
