My first oldie for 2010 ~ a 126yrs old coin!!!

I went out yesterday in the woods for an hour and the very first signal I got was this beauty, she was down about 6 inches deep. Man I'll tell ya it took me every bit of 20 minuets to break her free from the frozen ground but the thought of giving up on it never crossed my mind. I'm surprised that I found an IH before I found a wheatie!!! I also found a few clad and some junk. I sure hope the weather warms up the ground soon!!!

That reminds me of last year! I was doing the same thing in april here and using a hammer and chisel to retrieve my finds. Glad to see I ain't the only crazy man on this site gonna be another 2 months before I'll be able to do the same as I am 8 hours due north of ya lol

I don't know where you found ground not covered by 24 inches of snow in the midwest? I have not seen ground since November in my area. Good find though, but I will wait for a few warmer days and softer ground to start digging again.

nice indian!! i went out the other day and got skunked. any good sinal the ground was to frozen. my buddy decided to dig one of my holes i did not finish and pulled out a tombac button. i remeber the signal it was a clean 15-20 but by that time i already dug 10 shotgun shells. willy

TF, looking out my window here in DuPage County (just west of Chicago for most of you) all I see is SNOW. Even a few flakes today. And you have confirmed my thoughts on you Marines.....
