My first metal detecting hunt

Went on my first hunt today and it was cut short because we had to make an emergency trip to Texas, but I managed to find several coins, a rusty old knife, and a wallet with a metal tag (land owner knows the family of who the wallet belongs to, his decades old drivers license was in it, so he is returning it to them).

I got them cleaned up the best I can while on this unexpected road trip. It was so much fun and thank you to all that gave me advice and encouragement! I can’t wait to do it again.

Wow what a stellar first hunt!
👍👍

VERY WELL DONE !!! Amazing finds and fantastic pictures,. I love to return things myself. A lot of times I have to make sure when I return things i have a few hankies with me. Some of my biggest thrills in seeing how happy I make the people

Thanks everyone! I'm an avid hiker (and a tracker) and found a natural trail leading through a wooded area on the guy's ranch. I found the old coins all within inches of each other and the knife was a few feet away from those. The two dollar coins were in a ziplock sandwich bag about forty yards away from that. It was covered some with leaves but I didn't even need the detector for those, I just spotted them.

@robertk All is okay, a guy that served with my father has some struggles around Veterans and Memorial Days. We ran down to see him and all is good.

@pepperj Dude works. 😃 One day I need to share how I got this goofy nickname. It was given to me by someone being snarky, but yes it is my real nickname.

Awesome hunt Dudette!
Crazy awesome for a first. Or a second, or...

Congrats! Major haul.
There's a lot of hope for that knife yet. It should reward patience with it becoming a useful tool again.
Tremendous coins. But the Walking Liberty takes the cake for me.

Nows your choice. Quit while you're ahead? Or take the plunge into certain , "what have I done?" territory and go again.

(Bring your restored knife with you next hunt.)

As I told a buddy who killed a 150” Nc whitetail on his first trip (borrowed camo, shells and bucket from me)……sell everything hunting related and take up fishing or golf. Only one way to go from here.
