I started detecting March 2017 and have found a few junk rings but mostly only clad. Today I found my first Mercury dime (1945) I am thrilled. She was found at a park under a big old tree about 4-5" down. 20170607_142205 (1).jpg

Fine detail on that beauty. Congrats on your first silver. Now you know how they shine coming out of the dirt. Cool isn't it?

Beautiful silver coin. You're hooked for sure, now, into this happy, fun addiction. :occasion14:Congratulations!

(I wish there were more of us women detectorists out there. My sister and I hunt together and that's nice, but it'd be fun to have a big group of ladies to go out on hunts together, but right now we are all pretty spread out, too far apart to have meet ups and hunts together. Maybe one day ...)

I just joined today and would love to be a part of a woman's group. I am a bit lost on where to start!

Congrats!

Congrats, Congrats, ,Congrats.
Put it in a coin folder and mark the folder in capital red letters, "FIRST MERCURY" with the date of find.
On the back of the folder, put the location of where the dime was found. I keep my "FIRSTS" in a coin folder holder page. Those pages are kept in a binder.
Those pages will fill up over the years and you will be able to reflect back on the day you made a particular find. First Indian Head Penny, First Silver Half Dollar, First Standing Liberty Quarter, plenty of nice memories and smiles are going to come your way.
Congratulations.

I remember my first. It was a dime just like the one you found. I wish you were closer. I need someone to hunt with. No fun alone. Oh well, not many girls doing it. And none that I know of close to me.

Congrats on the merc! So fun to pull silver.

Nice! Now that your addiction just accelerated into hyper-drive, they'll start pouring into your pouch regularly...And that Ace 400...is a true beast..no doubt, my hunting bud Richie swings one and he is an animal with that thing! He has thoroughly stomped me sideways more times than not this year...GL and HH! Ddf
