Thanks Doug ;D

I Found my oldest and first 1954 large cent plus a WWI button? (and some clad)

Any ideas on cleaning the cent?

Bob and Doug did manage a few wheaties between them before it started raining.

Doug said he was going to attach the mini movie he took and i didn`t here him say uh once

Thanks for looking.

I`ts an 1854 large cent.

Thanks again Doug/ Modern Miner

Bill,
Congrats again on the nice LC and Eagle button. Awesome!!!
Here's the vid I took. Attach this link to your post.

Way to go Dude!!!

Bob,
I guess we'll just have to be happy today with our wheat pennies. :-(

Now, to go remove my wedgie.
-Doug-

Yep... great finds Bill. Doug and I will just have to be satisfied with our wheaties. After I cleaned some of the crud off, it turned out that I had 1 1936, 3 1937 and 1 1917. We all know that there's silver there somewhere and some old silver at that. :D

Thanks for the invite, Doug. Sorry I didn't get there a little earlier to help you guys unload that lumber. I had to scramble to get the last 2 boards.

Bill,
Congrats to you on a fantastic day! Not only an LC, but one with a date!!! :icon_king:
Folks, I about croaked when Bill found the LC. I've been wanting to find one for so long now to win my $10 bet with Nick P., but it was not to be today. I picked the wrong side of the house to start with. :BangHead:
I think all of our finds today were pretty much within the first 1/2 hour. After that we just roasted our butts off in this NC heat & humidity.
We did enjoy watching a six foot Black Snake climb up the side of an old shed. I had walked past it thinking it was just a rubber hose until Bill pointed it out to us. :o

Congrats on a super nice button too Bill. You Dog!!!!

Bob,
I think I may have you beat on the wheats. I have a 1925. Whoopie! :tongue3:

Exciting day today guys.
-Doug-

Way to go!

That LC already looks pretty nice--they can be Much worse, coming from the ground. So if you're happy with it, soak it in some water for a while and let it dry. If you're not satisfied with it, the peroxide method will probably bust off some of the light corrosion on the coin. It will probably darken the coin just a bit, though.

Congratulations,

Buckleboy

Oh no you don't, Doug.... my 1917 beat your 1925. ;D

Nice!

Okay, turn the coin on it's edge and see if it rolls.... well?

... you're on a roll now! large cent #1 and so many more yet to find. (Hurry up, we want to see more!)

You must have posted the same time I did. I just saw your 1917 beat my 1925. D-mn, I can't even win in the oldest wheat contest. :(
Nice job.
I can't believe that we didn't find one lousy silver today. :icon_scratch:

I agree. There HAS to be at least one silver there somewhere. It was probably in the pen with the Big Billy goat.

Wowzers Bill!! :o A GREAT looking LC! 8) I know you all had a great time! Love the video! Ya'll get back out there and find that silver~ Might want to stay away from the billy goat though. :-X :D

Congrats~! Nana :)

Thanks everyone for your kind words/ reply's, Alpha, Diggincoinz, Buckelboy, Nana, weasel.......

Here`s a couple of pics after soaking in vinegar + very little salt, i dont keep it around.
I was afraid to go the warm peroxide method since the vinegar salt made the date and features very readable.

Bill,
That came out just fine. Nice coin. I love the green look over the original look too.
Once again, "you lucky dog!!!"
I told you guys that "all silver was mine" when we got there. Well, I got my wish. ;D
-Doug-

Congratulations on a first. Very nice looking one too! Button is sweet too.

Doug,
You can't get a break huh? I felt bad for you. None at the 1800's home but one turns up at a 1910 home. Guess your reward for good deeds done will have to be in heaven. :)
Who would have expected that at a 1910 home? That's what makes this hobby so cool - you just never know. Maybe still another one lurking. How deep was the LC?

Thanks Bob.
One day, I shall get lucky. ;D
I wasn't there to see the LC hole, but the lawn area today was dry (under Oaks) and hard as a rock. All three of us were using small shovels.

Bill,
How deep was that LC?

-Doug-

Man.. I can still remember finding my first. The instant you figure out what the heck it is there is nothing from that moment on...at least on that day... that can bring ya down. Good job...and real nice shape. HH and continued success.!!
