Hello all,,,
The weather got back into the lower 40's today, so, I went to a local park and found my first gold ring.
I had just gotten to the park, set the ground balance on my machine, and within a half swing I get a nice sounding foil signal. It was reading just 2" down and pin-pointing on a very small spot. I pop out a plug about 3" in diameter and re-checked the hole, nothing. I checked the plug and there it was, shinning like crazy. I love it when they do that... :) It's marked 14k and has a very small stone. Not sure if it's real, but it looks like it might be a diamond chip, I'll take it either way...

I didn't stay too long after finding it. The ground is still frozen, and pretty hard, from the single digit temperatures we've had here lately and the ring had already given me my fix for the day. Dug a few pieces of trash and called it quits.

Hope ya all had a great day, & Happy hunting~

Thanks for all the great replies...
Momma's (my Ol' lady),already got it on her pinky finger. I concider this year to be going pretty well for no more than I've been out. I found the 14k bracelet in January, and now the ring, heck,,, I'll take a piece of gold a month any year... ;D Pretty cool you having the same ring Beep, maybe someone out there can find big brother next. 3rd times a charm.
Hope you all have had a great day...
Good luck, & Happy hunting~

Leon, did you do the "first gold ring dance"? I know I did. It took me 4 1/2 years to find mine. Congrats. WTG

Two thumbs up Leon! I have some wedding bands, but I'm still waiting for one with a rock in it. What a rush finding stuff like that.

Big Congrats Leon. I know how it is. It's a great feeling to find your first gold ring. I think every one is. But a first is always memerable. I was on a gold tear like a yr or so ago and have run dry ever since.

I guess I have been hunting to many old spots that aren't likely to give up rings. It really does pay to dig those solid foil and pulltab hits. Don't be surprized if another comes soon. They seem to come in spurts.

WTG Leon...Any gold ring is a good ring! Especially in these temps huh? It's been hovering around zero for a week in Colorado, but supposed to go up into the 50's by Friday. Hope I do as well as you~CO2

Good going Leon! There is nothing like seeing a glimpse of gold shining through the dirt to make your day. Welcome to the Ring Club!

Great job Leon!! I pass most foil signals up and now I am thinking I may have passed up some good stuff. ??? I have yet to find a nice gold ring. Great dig! :)

I hope we all find a big chunk of gold today...
dekalb33, I hadn't had the time to create any new avatars, but here ya go...
We can't forget about Saint Patricks Day, it's the one where I have to watch me gold...
rvbvetter, ;D
Good luck all, & Happy hunting~

what part of the park were you in ....just curious as I have the worst luck at parks ..unless its in the playgrounds with wood chips...i run a GTAx 1000 Garrett

rockyredbaron, I had just gotten out of the car and was about 5' feet from the curb leading into a small wooded area of a park. Wasn't real thick with trees, but it wasn't an open area, like a ball field, or picnic area.
I haven't hunted too many wood chips, or picnic ares, but I haven't had very good luck in those areas either...
Thanks again, Leon

Beautiful ring Leon, Tsgman

Nice find! Come to think of it... I was given a Promise Ring like that, too - back in the early 80's! Hmmm.... a promise is a promise... Excuse me - I gotta go call someone!
