Got out today and it was tough digging with the ground still frozen hard as a rock in most places. But I managed to find my first Eagle R button and my first shoe buckle I think. Also found what looks like part of a cuff link.

There are some other nice finds there, the other buckle is in good shape and that USA button is pretty sweet too.

Thanks but the button and buckle were both reproductions, it was from a site of many re enactments, had me thinking for a while though

Nice going on the button it's in great shape.

Nice riflemans button!

Thanks for that. I was wondering what the "R" stood for but didn't want to sound like a dummy. :tongue3: I understand the A,C,D and I buttons but have not seen the R until now. And Yes, I am very new to the relic hunting game.

That looks like a Georgian era (late 1700s) shoe buckle frame. Nice going!

Good looking button, and in great shape. I'm hoping to find one too, one day.

Awesome recoveries. That Eagle "R" button is top notch.
Congrats,

Riflemen buttons are scarce. That ones in damn good shape too, congratulations, still looking for mine.

Congratulations on the beautiful button find!

its an early Georgian design (1720's or 30's) and without the type of chape or tongue to confirm it , it could even be
as old as late 1690's .

Thanks for the additional info, for reference it measures 70mm x 61mm and has a iron pin.

Very nice Eagle R, I love the contrast showing off the eagle...wouldn't do any more cleaning.
