I found 2 Indian Cents in the same hole.... 1891 and 1864. About 30 feet from the cellar. The cellar hole is originally built in 1714 (lots of research) by a priest. Has been hit before, by very sloppy detectorists. Trash left in the wall, very sad. But, obviously they didn't do much around other areas because these guys screamed 81 LOUD on the AT. Going back soon, found 4 other holes around it. Hoping for my first flat button or large cent! Happy hunting! Just because it was hit before means nothing. It's a challenge. If you don't test your abilities, you never grow. Good luck on your return trip!

There ya go! Gotta love cellar holes...that's where my heart is. I live for that stuff. Congrats on the Indians ! Keep at it and don't get discouraged. The bucketlisters will show up.

Congratulations on the well earned Indian Head cents. Remember, no place is every hunted out, keep up the good work.

Nice hunt stick with it there's always more I try to think like the last guy didn't
The most obvious is probably hit the hardest

I often find indian heads with that same hard crust on them here on the Maine coast. I put mine in warm peroxide then leave them for a few days. Take them out and use a soft toothbrush on them.
Here's a couple that I've done

This isn't the best example but will give you an idea. I'm out of state working and the better pics are on my iPad at home. That ih looks like it has nice detail beneath and should clean up well

Show him your Spanish too Abe, lol

Nice finds Bud, Keep going back, I like to look a distance around the hole away, I find allot of stuff there too.

Well done my man. Congrats. I am certain that a flat button and LC are just around the corner for you!

Keep it up. Looking forward to seeing what your diligence unearths!

Nice recovery.....makes you wonder what else they missed.

Congrats on those nice saves. What is the coin in the pic by itself?

Cool finds, sucks about sloppy detectorists, I have some of those on a few of my sites. Really infuriates me. That one piece looks like it is maybe from a parasol, or umbrella!

I hate slops too. They even left their shovel in the woods by a bunch of beer cans.... Lol ..... I buried it so hope they don't plan on using it next time!
