Went out to the fields of Legend yesterday with South Jersey Jim and Arty facts. Well it didn't dissapoint. We tried a couple of new fields and I am so glad that we did. I found my very first cob. I have to put some pics up on the cobb forum to see what I actually have! What a rush I can tell you!!!!!!!!!!!! When I left home I just wished that I would find something I haven't found before. Going to use that technique everytime I go out now:) I also found an 1828 large Cent, 2 wheatties, a "Deputy Marshal Badge." A partial heel plate, 2 copper rings, a piece of jewelry with a stone, a silver thimble, a 3 ringer bullett, 19 buttons and a bunch of lead balls and lead. Day started a bit slow but what an ending! I have to give Arty a call and make sure that he got out of there alright. We left while there was still a little light left. Arty may still be there:):) Can't wait to see what he found.

Wow goldi you do rock.Awesome hunt.really like that Cobb, badge, buttons.Heck it's all great.sweeeeeet finds.way to go.

Man I would trade all my coppers for that little silver cobb. Excellent finds! Maybe ill be next since you and Arty have one each.

Congrats on your first cob Diane. Hopefully it won't be your last. I found my first 20 years ago. Since then I have found 50 more Spanish silvers and none of them were cobs!

Your very lucky, its still on my wish list & may remain there for the rest of my life!

Diane, Great finds. I'm very excited that your dream Cob finally came home. It was a great hunt as always and there are allot of owls in the area. I was one of them. I stayed and hunted in the dark till 7:30, cool stuff.

What a rush I can tell you!!!!!!!!!!!!

Firsts are still the greatest feeling. Especially if you've waited a long time to find a particular something.

But, can you explain something to a dummy? What does COBB stand for? Or is it just a name for the coin?

WTG!
HH!

That's a nice silver thimble despite the damage, early to mid 18th century I think. Is there anything on the other side opposite the initials?

Congrats on your first cob. If you keep hunting those coin and button laden fields you may end up with more than one. My next favorite find is the silver thimble. Looks like it has some identifying marks. Great hunt!

Congrats on the great finds.

Nice finds, especially the cobb. :icon_thumleft:

Great finds, congrats on your first cobb hope you get an ID. Any marks on the back of the anchor button that you can decipher?

Thanks everyone. I was trying to answer everyone individually but for some reason it wouldn't work:(

Holy cow! What a hunt. Cobb, silver thimble, buttons ..man what a hunt!
