I live in VA not far from the Manassas battlefield. No idea if this could be a CW bullet or something more modern. I've done some research online, and not being an expert by any means on firearms, I cannot ID this myself. It is non-magnetic, so I believe it to be a lead bullet. It has a cavity in the base, and I don't see any crimping from a cartridge. It has only a mild patina, so it makes me wonder about it's age.

The pictures below should give a good idea of the size. It appears to have struck something due to the tip being compressed... and it's no longer round in diameter, which I feel to be another indication that it is lead (a soft metal).

The 4th image shows length... but it has been compressed. The last 2 are base diameter at it's narrowest and widest points of compression. My best guess is either .31 or .32 caliber. The thickness of the wall is around .07".

Thanks!

It looks like a modern fmj (full metal jacket) to me.
The whitening of the lead indicates some age, but it's not civil war old. My guess is first half of the 20th century.

Looks like a modern wad cutter bullet, used for shooting paper targets.

FMJ. I would guess it is from a .30 US Carbine - 1940 to present. Should be 0.308" but your is deformed and is in that range.
