When i was a little kid i got out of church one day to see a man swinging this big, clunky, noisy thing on the brick sidewalk...he let me help dig one of his "targets"....IT WAS A QUARTER!!!!...I never dreamed that you could find money with a machine(at least not one coin at a time anyway)That is when i got the FEVER!!!!...so when i turned 13(a few years of hounding my parents later) i received a whites coinmaster(BIG< BLUE<NO IDEA HOW TO USE IT!!!!) i gave up after digging up every aluminum satellite firework i had shot off from 1974 to 1980!!!...i put it in the closet...My mom and dad built a new house in the meantime and my brother and me played Hot Wheels in the piles of black dirt that was hauled in for fill....I decided one day that i was going to find all the Hot wheels that i had lost when i was younger...detector...dirt pile...what?...Silver coin?...MOM!!!!!!!!!!....I later got accused of sticking the 1898 O barber dime in the dirt and "finding" it.....Then my dad told me the dirt had come from south of town and "some ole farmer" had probably dropped it plowing his fields.....That's when i got the FEVER for the second time!!!!!.....I still have the dime... And now i have my own home....1980's-90's ranch home on an old place...13 acres, 18th-20th century cemetary,(according to the markers i have found so far)...DON'T WORRY....I only dig six inches not six feet..LOL...Anyways...i see that i am rambling so i will cut this short...I have lived here 6 1/2 years...hunted my yard at least 3 to 4 times a year... and Sunday , I DUG MY FIRST SILVER DOLLAR!!!!!!! DSC00383.JPG DSC00384.JPG and this other stuff....DSC00373.JPGand what is this?..DSC00379.JPG Happy Hunting To ALL!!!!!!!!!

Great finds, I've never found a silver dollar..... Yet!

What are those other two coins around (1 o'clock) position in the other picture? Are those some sort of trade tokens?

Your past history is kind of like mine.... Started detectin when I was about 13 too, and got the bug back and forth over the years as well.

they are called Missouri Mills/Mils?....a tax token..found them from kansas, oklahoma and colorado also

Great story and what a find. That Peace Dollar is impressive. And the old dime you found early on must still be spuring you forward!

God Bless

Archaeon~ Good question, I've always wondered about that myself..... Maybe it's a Mason thing..... Don't they use a calper thing symbolically a lot, cause the "V" looks kinda like an upside down one of those..... Hope I'm not opening a conspiracy can of worms by posting this.

Nice coins, Lairmo!

Two coins that I really like are Morgan dollars and Peace dollars. I figured I'd probably never dig them, so I bought one of each. Looks like you're halfway there!! Congrats!

Very cool story... and VERY awesome coins & token!!!
It's gonna be nice to get back out once it warms up here, huh?
The low for tonight is supposed to be 0 degrees. :-\

Very nice finds, It looks like your whatsit says "one check". I know they used to call poker/gaming chips "checks", maybe it's an old gambling token. HH Charlie

That silver dollar is just beautiful. I can't imagine the rush you must get when you pull one of these from the dark soil.

Congrats!
