My friends and I were working a spot of ours that has been producing nicely for us. We were working a small area on our way out where 2 large cents and a half cent were found. I was getting ready to leave when I got one of those signals that we all dream about. This beauty was down in the hole about 7 inches at an angle, it was sheer luck that I found it.

This is my first 18th century silver coin and I couldn’t be any more pleased. Thanks for looking and happy hunting!

Wow! That’s a sweet large silver congrats!

Nice looking silver with some detail still on it. Congrats.

Congrats on the silver.:icon_thumright:

Congratulations!!!!!! I’m still waiting to see that 17?? I’m come close at 1801 but still praying. Once again congrats on that 18th century Spanish Silver!!!

Freakin amazing.. I think I would have stayed after that!!!!!

Beautiful 2 reale! My oldest silver is 1890. Might be a while before I touch anything of that age. Nicely done!

Nice! It's from the Mexico mint. These were commonly used by American colonists well up into the mid-19th century, this one looks to have been lost when it was still fairly new!

Great coin! I've found one 1/2 reale but it doesn't have a bust on it: it's the pillars and pomegranate design. I really like the Carolus III coins. Hope to find one some day!

Congrats on breaking into the 1700s with that beautiful 2 Reale!

Fantastic coin! My first 2 Spanish silvers were 1782-2 Reales. They have the same die break in the 8 just like yours. Steve in PA pointed that out to me as he’s got the same coin. After those first 2 big Spanish they’ve all been 1s or 1/2s....and I was convinced it was going to be easy to find big Spanish lol

I was down the hill and heard you say "oh my god"...gotta love this spot, congrats on your first reale

Sweet find, congratulations! :occasion14:
