Although it's hot enough to fry an egg...as River Rat says.....I did manage to get out for a couple of hours this week. Monday I went to Ms. Dot's place (the lady who lives in the old school/house) and found my first thimble! It says Whites Sewing Machines at the bottom. Found a Ford key, a little ring, some change and the TJ token on top of the ground. Yesterday I went to Ms. Flossie's house. This was the first time to detect there and she was excited to see me come over and chat for a while. Found out her husband had a blacksmith shop across the way..but it's all grown over so it will have to wait till winter. The ground around the house was very dry and it was difficult to make neat holes so I didn't dig everything. I will revisit there after a good rain though. ;) She was a sweetheart. Anyhow I did find another Ford key and it has the neatest (modern) car on it. Does anyone know how to find a date on car keys?? ??? And I found the smallest buckle I have ever found, part of a watch, some change, the reed and of course the shell. ;D

Ya'll have a great weekend!!!

Nana ;)

Thanks for the id on the keys too! I do see the one posted on the left but haven't found the id for the one with the 'future' car on it yet.

Neat-O Red!!! And thanks!

;)

Looks good Nana.

Now all you need is one of those cars that matches the key.

Cool finds Nana. I have never seen a key like that. That's a keeper.

You know you have to do some Hot weather metal detecting so you can appreciate it when it gets cool.
Nate went out today in the hottest part of the day -full sun and about 90. What a die hard. Guess it's been a while since I was 16. I think they have more energy. :D

Mirage

now you've got me thinking

I love to read the posts and have not made a post before now. I was just thinking, my dad's family had the old homestead since the 1700's, when grandma died in the mid 1900's the city bought the property to make a park out of it and have never touched it. They burned the old family house and barn down and never went back. Ok now here is the question, should I go back and check out the property??? Do ya'll think it would be worth making a weekend trip??? And being new to finding is it legal to go there and search???

when i was 16 i had a 1953 ford and had a key just like that one. brings back memories.
I was 16 in 1963.

Hey Nana, bet your supprised to see me.

With me being a locksmith I'll also confirm that that key is from to 50's to the early 60's.

Nice finds... HH!!!
Uber

Hey! Thanks for the ID's ya'll! ;) 1950's! Older than I am...so it's a keeper! ;D

And yes Uber...I am suprised to see you! Where ya been?!

Mirage..to be 16 again...and to have had a detector then....oh the possibilities... :D

Feathers....I would call the city in question and just ask what has become of the area you are referring to and if detecting is allowed there. Sounds like it would be a great place to go! Welcome to the forum! :)

Thanks again!

Hey Nana! Send me those Ford keys. Looks like they might fit my restored 1963 Fairlane. You bring the keys out & I'll take you for a ride you won't soon forget. It is a FUN car. Did run it in the local parade on the 4th. It was running extra good & it was hard to keep it on the ground when you could see through all the smoke off the tires.

Going back to the Oregon Coast this weekend for 9 days to be a staff member at deaf kid camp. Hope to heat up the DFX in between events.

My wife & I are going to manage the mess hall 3 times a day & our oldest son will be a camper. Sign language can be really confussing when 200 kids all try to talk at once. I am the resident fingerprint specialest for new staff members also. Something else to do between meals.

Do you remember a few months ago when you had yet to find your first coin & were burried in old shell casings? Your current finds show a ton of growth girl. I feel like a slacker now.
Spotz

Nice finds Nana, enduring the heat can be tough! HH, Mike

Spotz--I do. ;D

Tell you what....I'll meet you half way with the keys. I'll be going to Missouri for JD's shindig in October. ;D YOU are TOOO busy! I don't know how you do it. 8) Good luck on your hunt! :)

Thank you Mike. :)

Hi Nana, nice digs this week but am sorry you didn't find your bullets you must have been disappointed. LOL just picking. I'm not afraid of snakes but I don't think I have ever run into the size you are talking about. HH I hope this hot spells breaks soon.
