Although it's hot enough to fry an egg...as River Rat says.....I did manage to get out for a couple of hours this week. Monday I went to Ms. Dot's place (the lady who lives in the old school/house) and found my first thimble! It says Whites Sewing Machines at the bottom. Found a Ford key, a little ring, some change and the TJ token on top of the ground. Yesterday I went to Ms. Flossie's house. This was the first time to detect there and she was excited to see me come over and chat for a while. Found out her husband had a blacksmith shop across the way..but it's all grown over so it will have to wait till winter. The ground around the house was very dry and it was difficult to make neat holes so I didn't dig everything. I will revisit there after a good rain though. ;) She was a sweetheart. Anyhow I did find another Ford key and it has the neatest (modern) car on it. Does anyone know how to find a date on car keys?? ??? And I found the smallest buckle I have ever found, part of a watch, some change, the reed and of course the shell. ;D

Ya'll have a great weekend!!!

Nana ;)

Hey Nana,Glad you got out.Pretty nice find's,too bad the thimble turned into a thinble ;D I'm not sure if I could hold out till winter for the old blacksmith's shop, that would drive me nut's thinkin' what's in there.Look's like you had a good time regardless...You still got the weekend,Good luck and HH!!

Very nice post Nana. I don't recognize the car on the key because it's too new. In my day they all had cranks and spoked wheels ::)

Don't forget to hunt that blacksmith shop come winter.

Oh, and one more thing...if ya dig a blacksmith hammer, don't throw it away. Have you seen those Whites Treasure Hunting America videos? Some old blacksmith hammers are worth hundreds!

In fact, my digs are worth a lot more than I had first thought. Old iron relics are serious!

USUALLY THE KEYS I FIND ARE PURE JUNK BUT THAT FORD KEY LOOKS SWEET!

Flatter than a pancake civil! :D But....still my first! ;D And that blacksmith shop is sure tempting...but there are rattlesnakes as big as my arm here....soooo gonna have to wait a while. :P

Badger :D :D :D ...........what's a crank? :D :D :D Just kiddin! I saw one of those in a museum once. :D .....You're too much! :D

Me too Al...really didn't notice that it was different till I decided to clean it a bit.... cause I didn't have any great coins to clean :D then saw the car on it. Never seen one of those before. Thanks!

;)

Love the shotgun shell and the rest of the stuff isn't bad either! :-* Now Nana you know I'm just foolin'. Those are the kind of folks you like to visit with as they know so much about what use to be. My grandmother lived to one day shy of her 103 birthday and I never really got the chance to just sit down and visit with her one on one. So much history I could have learned...sigh. Hindsight....you know what I mean. I guess I expected her to live to be 150? :'( Monty

cool nana,, i like the ring, they dont make em like that anymore, i got 1 similar,, rain, rain, rain,, but not too much, :D :D :D

Nice finds Nana. I love the keys.

I use an MXT as well and I was wondering what settings you use. I have been using the coin and jewelry mode on the beach and in the dirt. I usually have the discriminator around the nickel pull-tab. I hunted a football field today at a school and I found a civil war bullet and a mini-ball!. They gave me the same signal as a screw-cap, but I dug them anyway because they sounded so good. I was kind of surprised with those finds because I did not know there was a battle there of any sort. The man that was cutting the grass told me that they brought in dirt from somewhere else for the field. They were not that deep.

Thanks
-Ash

Nice stuff Nana, as always! I don't know about the keys, but they look older than me, so they're a good find, lol! HH!

purty awesome finds Nana.... i found a thimble like that in my yard it was mashed too.... i somewhat straightened it out (or rounded lol)..... do ya need me to bring my weedeater to clean up around the blacksmith's shop? lol.....like i said purty awesome

Nana, nice going. I can understand the heat here as well. You can probably expect another heat wave this next week. As for the Ford keys, I'd guess at least the 70's-for the life of me I can't remember when they started making the cuts on both sides.

Way to go, Nanners. I like the ring and the thinble. (That's funny, civil! :D ) I found a thinble this spring. My dad turned it back into a thimble for me. :D

It sweltering hot up here in PA....I can't imagine how hot it is down there in Alabama. :P

Way to go Nana.
Great finds.

I'll have to post a pic of my "keychain" someday. A coathanger totally filled with keys. Lots of old cars keyts too and others.

Your key might be from the 50's to early 60's I think.

Here's a couple eBay links with dates for what they are worth. The sellers say 50's and the keys look like yours.

Check that blacksmith shop out for sure. My Grandpa was a blacksmith in NW Ohio. When I was a kid I use to work his big billows to make the fire hot. When & if I ever get up to the old home farm I plan on hunting the "Ole Black Smith shop, should at least bring back some fond memories. Nice finds.
