Decided to brave the heat and try my luck around an old house I’ve detected before. The homeowner came out and gave me this button, seems she found it in her garden. It’s a Virginia Polytechnic Institute button with a Wm C. Rowland Phila back mark. Turns out she had better luck than I did, all I found was shotgun hulls and aluminum scraps. [emoji16] Interesting button, I think it’s from the 1940’s.

That was really nice of her, great button any more info on it.

Very nice button. That was nice of the owner to give that to you.

Yes, according to the maker, they made buttons from 1909 until the 1930’s. The name Virginia Polytechnic Institute was changed in 1940 to Virginia Tech. And yes, that was very nice of her!

Nice gift/find Fullstock!

It's now "Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University, commonly known as Virginia Tech or just Tech. Were you able
to determine if they ever had a Cadet Corps? Otherwise perhaps a button from a band uniform or fraternity?

Best wishes!

Very nice of the homeowner to give the button. Nice gift. Might be more goodies to be found. Good luck in your future hunts.
