My Favorite coin

Here's a pic of my favorite coin find diving. A 1643 1/4 French ecu. Louis XIII. I found this coin in an area settled by the early French Huguenots that settled in SC after the Edict of Nantz was abolished in France.

Jeepers-creepers, that's awesome. My oldest coin is from 1658, and it ain't silver (Spanish 4-maravedi from a mission that was burned by pirates in the 1680s).

What part of SC are you from? I'm just south of you, in the Golden Isles of GA. I was just talking to somebody about how I'd like to poke around the SC Lowcountry a bit, maybe in the Beaufort area.
