I found a nice pocket watch in the woods on January 14th, it was about 10 inches in the dirt with a couple inches of snow on top

it's either heavy gold plate or gold filled, not sure it's not marked.

Nice looking pocket watch and the class ring is a good one. :icon_thumright:

Way to go!
You're off to a great start this year. I found an identical watch this last season but it was only the case.
Keep it up!
Mike

That's one of the best examples of a dug pocket watch I've seen on here! Congratulations on the ring as well.

Thanks for all the great replies everyone  here's a pic of how the watch looked before I cleaned it.

That watch is a BEUT!!

I won't dig on snow covered ground myself, I think being able to cover your holes more efficiently is more important than getting it NOW.

I take it these are from non lawn or sod areas?
I made these finds in the middle of a woods, I fill the holes back in and even replace the leaves ice and snow that I cleared. I never leave holes anywhere. My brother even stated the fact he couldn't believe how meticulous I was about filling holes in the middle of a woods.
