Ahhhh... The old double tailed coin trick. Great for winning coin tosses. I used to have a double headed quarter, of course it was a fake. Don't know about this one though.
Well Leroy, that cent looks real to me. I've never heard of a double sided cent but that is not to say they/it does not exist. Seems like a bit more investigation is needed, do you have a coin club in your town??
A question - would you be willing to compare your 3030 and your V3i? I for one would be interested in your comparison!................63bkpkr
Great finds!
A simple and cheap way to determine if a two headed or tailed coin is genuine (and they are a few, very few of them)
is to drop a normal cent dated before 1982 on a hard surface and listen for the slight Ding sound that it will make. Then try your that with your 2 sided cent. Most likely it will have more of a Thud than a Ding due to the two sides that have been bonded together. Don't use the 1943 steel cent unless you want to compare it to another steel cent. And the same for cents made after 1982 because they are mostly made of zinc and have there own sound.
Thanks everybody it was a great day of finding silver. Yes the the Virgin Mary is sterling you can see it on there in one of the close ups of the wheat. Called NGC today told me what tokameel posted and there is a definite difference in the sound so apparently it's a magician coin....thanks again! Leroy
