The area was super thick, and very difficult to detect but i managed to pull out a bunch of goodies in some of the clearer areas. One of the first non iron hits i got was an iffy one, but I decided to dig anyway because it was overloading. I'm glad i did because out popped an .56 caliber octagon musket barrel(the last three inches is a normal cylinder shape), and its 19 inches over all. I'm running it through electrolysis right now to see if i can find some type of makers mark and i cant tell if there was any rifling. I also found a brass piece with it. My adrenaline was pumping! I continued to search the area and found two garden hoes, a matron head large cent(date unreadable), Two buckles, Silver plated buckle piece(i think), a stirrup, a harmonica reed, a toe plate, and some unknown pieces. Can anyone help me identify any of these items, especially the rifle barrel? Thanks!

Looks like you found a great relic site. Do you have a 5" DD coil for the Omega? Small coils are great for areas with a lot of undergrowth.

Your piece with the 2 holes in it could very well be a "whizzer toy". Young boys would put a piece of string or fishing line thru each hole, spin it in front of them to make the line twist, then pull each end of the string tight at the same time to make it spin & cause a whizzing sound. I have found a few of those, but they actually had inscriptions with names & dates on them. They were a common toy in the late 1800's & early 1900's. Then again it could just be a part off of something.

You might be able to identify the barrel because in my experience, it's pretty unusual to have so much octagon, and so little round. Full round is common. Full octagon is too. Half-round was used a lot on cheaper sporting pieces, but what you have is unusual at least. It's a hook-breech but you probably know that!
