All Treasure Hunting
Dug this up today, rang in as silver on my MXT, clearly not silver so thinking brass....Not sure i want to try to clean it,so might wait for some input, maybe someone can point me in direction of place to send to get cleaned and determine which variety..found a reale yesterday,Carolus IIII,half dozen buttons, a couple the large colonial flat ones..near this Fugio buddy found a coin yet to be identified, but thinking large early copper cent.

nice chain cent, ill know more when i find one, lol

It looks like a 1787, but it is hard to tell without further cleaning to the front. I wouldn't want to steer you in the wrong direction with cleaning. Some will say peroxide, but you have to be very careful. You may want to take it to someone who can professionally conserve it, because it could be a few hundred dollar coin or a few thousand and you don't want it graded "improperly cleaned". I think that it is worth the money to send in to PCGS or NGC to get conserved and graded.

Def looks like a Fugio to me. I found one some years ago. Yours looks to be in much better shape than mine. Darn nice find! Congrats

Awesome coin I'm jealous for some reason I can't break into the 1700s. Awesome find congrats.

They only made the Fugio in 1787 so that's definitely the date. Still looking for my first one. My buddy Tony found one last year. Nice find.

Nice chain cent! Congrats!

Definitely a Fugio and DEFINITELY a killer find! Those do not show up often. Spanish silver is much easier to find than that any day. Congrats

A Fugio is very near the top of my wish list....very nice find!

That coin is probably at the top of everybody's wishlist!

I know I'm a bit odd, but my wish list is sort of backwards. At the top of my list are the coins/items I feel I have the most opportunity to find. At the bottom of the list are items such as this one (haven't a clue what it is but it's very cool) which I am quite sure I'll only ever see here on T-Net. Your coin is a heck of a find! Congratulations.

Thanks to everyone who posted, greatly appreciated, was a fun day yesterday...heres a couple better pics after a light cleaning, and think I will leave it the way it is.DSCF0138.JPGDSCF0139.JPG
