A friend of mine asked me to hunt a place with him that's from the 1800's. There is apparently a spot where a home was & some fields.
I found over 30 buttons there but one is the best button I have ever found! It's a war of 1812 artillery button with almost all of the gold gilt still on the front and back of it. I could not believe how nice it turned out after I cleaned it. My buddie Rob told me a cleaning trick that Josh had showed him. It worked great on this button and another one. I have found many buttons over the years but I am really happy to find this one! There is also 2 Eagle butttons in the group.
I also found some nice coins. My favorite is a 1826 large cent & a 1832 capped bust half dime. Another nice find was a small shoe buckle dated 1860. There were some other neat keepers as you can see in these pictures. I want to Thank my Buddie Rob for helping me with these pictures & this post. And Thank you all for checking out my finds!

WoW ...That's a beauty! Great saves and nice post!

If you didn't know the lock plate is from a pad lock. The manufacturer is Davinport and Mallory. Produced in the 1860s. I believe they were produced in bridgeport CT.. The only reason I know this is I found one on an old plantation site this past weekend..
Hope that little bubbling fountain of knowledge helped in some way.
The rest of the stuff is a sweet days work..
