My bank doesnt sell CWR they send to Brinks

Re: My bank doesn't sell CWR they send to Brinks

Im not sure how I would feel about that. It kinda makes me think the bank might be culling the silver. Otherwise it wouldn't make sense for them to do that for several reasons. Number one, that's twice the physical effort for the employees(usually women who can barely carry the boxes of coins). Second, giving out car saves the bank the time of counting the coins. It also helps to prevent them from being shorted, as most rolls that are short will just go back out to customers.

its policy here in LA. Even if I bring back clear wrapped dimes they have to bag it and send it out for "verification" so I just bag them now after I've scanned them.

I've asked several times to buy CWR dimes and they always say they cannot, they have to be shipped out (WF). Haven't asked at BofA.

I agree though it is a big waste of money on the banks part, I guess it just makes their accounting dept sleep well.

Wow, im truly surprised by that. Just seems so illogical for a financial institution to be so wasteful of time and more importantly money. How are the finds in the brinks boxes? I've grabbed a few but never more than a single keeper, not terrible, but not great.

I'm in OC and I buy reboxed CWR rolls at US Banks occasionally. But only the branches that used to be Downey Savings. I've found that if the bank is a legacy USBank as opposed to one of the other banks that was purchased in the last two years, policies are different for rolls.

I lived in LA County for 35 years. As mentioned by Bigheed, the banks I dealt with also did not accept CWR. It was put in a bag and sent out for verification and deposit only into your account. Here in OK City area it is different. I can walk into any bank, account or not and sell them for cash to the tellers.
