My 1st Gold Ring

Scored my first gold ring today, in the surf of a Hawaiian beach:





The beach is so clean that I dig almost every target, both to verify my target ID and to practice recovery, because I'm still pretty new at this.


I knew it was a good target, but thought it was going to be a quarter. I was happy to be wrong. It's two-tone white/yellow and stamped 14k on the inside. I won't know how much it weighs until I get home to my scale.


I continued to hunt until the surf grew high enough that it was beating me up pretty good.

I got home tonight and weighed the ring: 9.0 grams.

I got $2.06 in clad from the dry sand the next morning.
