Ok Guys. While on a short vacation I ran up on a deal for the MXT Pro that I could not refuse. Now lets spend some bonus bucks. Number 1. Eclipse 6x10 DD coil or D2 10" coil?

Number 2. Eclipse 5.3" coil or Eclipse 4x6" coil?

Keep in mine I live in the SE part of Tennessee with lots of red clay.

Number 3. I already have a Garrett's pro pointer and love it but thinking about a spare.
What do you say for another pointer?

How about shovels. Yes I have a 4 inch wide shovel but do any of you have a favorite for an old man that needs all the easy of digging he can get? I see some neat looking T handle shovels out there. Is one better then another?

1. D2 10"
2. 4x6 shooter
3. Another Garrett PP!
Any digger your comfortable with that fits your style of hunting and makes it through soil/roots. It seems that's one of the least of people's worries.
Good luck and have fun!

Yep, that's the way I'd do it too.
However, I went with the 5.3 and while it works well, I wish I had the Eclipse 4x6. I have the Prizm 4x6 for my CMP and really like how that works.

What do you guys see as a noticeable difference between the 9.5 coil that comes on the detector and the 10" inch d2 coil. Is it really worth the price?

What kind of hunting are you going to be doing? I live in Morristown but hunt down in your area for civil war relics. I have the 10x12 SEF coil on my MXT PRO and love it. It is like several coil sizes in one. It will work great in trashy areas as well. If you had a choice between the 6x10 and the D2 then go with the D2. I think any of the smaller coils will be fine as I don't know if any one is better than the other. As far a shovels I use the Raven by Lesche. They are not cheap but come with a 5 yr warranty. Shovels are like machines. It is more of a preference as to which you like. The MXT PRO will work great in the hot soil. I used it in several DIV hunts in Virginia before I got my TDI. For deep targets you will have to swing a lot slower to hear them but it will go pretty deep. My ID tag that I dug in Virginia was 12" deep. Have you hunted the park in Charleston yet? I have found several mercury dimes and wheat pennies there. If not send me a pm and I will give you directions.

I have a few ares to hunt by permission and mostly am looking for pre 65 coins. I am wanting to hunt the old school grounds in Charlestown and Calhoun. The old school at Calhoun was shut down in the 60s along with the old school I went to in those times. I was thinking about the lies he shovel as well as most of the ones I see the handle flexes bit if you put to much pressure on them. I don't think the Lesche will have a problem breaking and it looks like a design that would be easy to penetrant the soil with. I am probably going to purchase one coil with my bonus bucks and then try out what I have before thinking about another coil. I am slow at swinging my detector as my areas can't take a lot of aggressive swinging.

Are you referring to the park on the Charlston school ground the in town on Highway 11?
