Hi all, its been awhile since I've been on here so I would like to contribute a find from last week, June 2 2012. A group of buddies and I have been doing well hunting this site as it is a confirmed fur trade / native american site. I would like to share these photos with you today. Its broken but has a wonderful engraving.

Makes you wonder how it got broke? Indian fight, Hand to hand........wow!

Well this particular site was that of a village. Most of the site was plowed in the 1870s. So being the soil was constantly being turned and the fact that the Indians (Delaware) were for the most part more interested in the metal than why it was created and in this case a trigger guard. We are finding many brass kettle fragments use for tinker's, arrows( rolled),iron kettle fragment and even silver .... natives were creative and destructive all in one. In this case destructive not being bad but opposite of white cultures need for design.
