I think the fouled anchor rope will help in dating the buckle. very nice find indeed.

Great Buckle Hardy :headbang: you have been posting some good stuff lately

Gotta like that!

I'm not sure it's quite that old, but will be checking back in when you date it. I sold the same buckle in perfect none-dug condition about 4 years ago.

Very closely resembles British WWII Navy buckle, might it be Canadian Navy?

That's pretty funny. I remember selling two buckles, one like the one just found, but couldn't think of the second until you posted... which I believe was the other.

Nice looking buckle. You got the important part anyways. Congrats......Hogge :headbang:

To tell you the trueth, i am thinking that its a WW1 buckle , I am sure i saw this buckle in one of my great Uncles house

back east.

There were German Navy buckles from WW I that are also very close in construction, with no crown.

I have seen one example of a Tongue and Wreath (which this is not)with a very similar anchor and crown, that was believed to be associated with the Royal Navy.If I am not mistaken it also came from an 1850 ish site.
