Cool piece! I see some Georgian era mourning pieces that are simpler and rectangle like yours.

Some of them say "In Memory of" but don't have any name or initials. This makes sense because the person wearing the piece would always remember the name of the dear departed. The point of mourning jewelry was to remind the wearer and to show others you are in mourning.

Sadly, you pictures are too out of focus to see much detail. Something for a size reference might be helpful as well. I'm guessing it was a brooch or the face of a pendant.
