Rock could be a ,morrow mtn. That quartz is hard to identify. Looks like all your hard work and perseverance is paying off for you.

MM phase 1 from what I have seen from a I.D. site and if so then they would date 7000-7500 B.P. I have found other MM out there so its possible but like you said they are hard to get a name for the quartz points. TY TnM

"Rock",
You've been on a "roll" lately! Good to see your finding some nice frame fillers. Keep it up!

Well now.. it's about time!
Kidding man.. it's been cool watching how you've busted your adze day after day ..getting freaked out by snakes,cows...... chicken poop.. getting basically skunked quite a few times ..and by not giving up you've got yourself what appears to be an honest to goodness site with alot of promise already adding points to your collection.
I'm genuinely happy for you bro.
Nice finds.

I wonder if someone has a technique for "seeing" the flaking on a sugar quartz point like these that Rock found. I have found many white quartz rocks that initially looked worked but sometimes I just can't tell if nature made them the right shape or a human hand. Either way...I really like those sugar quartz points Rock...one day I want to find one of those rosy quartz ones...looks like you did one-up me!

It was due to the plow that the owner did for me. I wish I had known they were going to do it cause I knew of another spot I could of pointed out. I found some points last yr in a area and forgot to tell where it was. One of the points I found today was in a field that I found nothing in last yr so I was happy to find it cause it shows there was some activity in that spot. I did find one of those preforms there also. Thanks everyone for the support on my hunts, rock

These are just quartz. Sugar quartz is more like quartzite in texture. The 2 I found are solid quartz then worked and the flaking just doesnt show up well I would guess if you used a scope it would show better. But they are for sure points. Thanks, rock
You should post the ones you found probably good ones.

There was A LOT of quartz used in the Piedmont Region of Ga.! Are there any "modern" knappers that have been successful whacking on quartz? It amazes me how they did some of this stuff in quartz, and especially "sugar quartz" as we call it. Just think what you are missing buried under all those cow pies Rock!

Not that I know of as modern knappers dont like the quartz or quartzite. Most quartz pieces I have found have been MM. Not all of them though.

The last time my good buddy Twitch came into town, we found a spot filled with quartz crystals. The ones with a natural occurring prism shape. I have been back to that spot and can't find a point made from a crystal for the life of me. I have found points made from quartz crystals in places that have no crystals. I wander if "the grass was always greener on the other side" even during the Stone Age??

I wonder if taking clay or putty and imprinting the questionable white quartz point would allow you to see the flaking and get a better visual of what it looked like? I'm thinking Silly Putty..

Thats funny cause a couple of yrs ago I bought some just for that. I still havent used it and its still in the package.

Rock, a couple pics of a quartz scraper that I found several yrs. ago in Ks. Have only found a few pieces of quartz on sites but they had other material to work with. Not sure why they would even bother with the quartz, other than it was different.
If you angle the piece you can make out the flake scars. The flakes only travel a short distance before they terminate. That's what makes it so difficult to knap.quartz 001.JPGquartz 002.JPG

Thats a thick scraper. Thanks for the view.

I left them dirty in the first pic so you could see the work better. I scored permission for a 15 acre track today with a creek on it! Maybe next week Ill be able to get sometime to check it out.
