Didn't find any other older silver coins but I did start going back to a couple "stand-by" spots that I save for when I don't have a lot of time to hunt - as they are very close to my home. I can shoot over to them and hunt for a couple hours and still be back in time to get ready to go in to work. The one spot I hit has had some very interesting items in it so far (the carriage decoration and others) and I have pulled two rings each time I go there. Today I was waiting on my daughter to arrive for a few days to visit and I had to -HAD TO 0 go and hunt. It was like I couldn't sleep or anything. Got my gear together and biked over to the area and started swinging the detector. Within 10 minutes I had dug up two rings (one 14K and the other just costume as it is marked SETA with a copyright symbol). Another 30 minutes later and I had a little stack of quarters and pennies plus two medallions. One I recognized as a Saint Christopher Medallion but the other had some crust on it and I couldn't read all of it. The center scrolling says: "Equality before the law" and it has the word "Temple" on it. Possibly some Shriner medallion? There are many larger chunks of iron all over this area and I couldn't dig most of them. The locket looked interesting with it's leaf design and there were a lot of porcelain or china shards deeper down and I will have to do some research on the history of this spot. Dug up some binocular parts the last time I was there. Ended up with a part to what I believe is a lantern (Has "PATENT AUG 29, 1882" on the small circular control knob) and a Sacajawea dollar coin to top it off. (Second one from this same place!) The large brass buckle has a small anchor mark on it's back and I am wondering if it's U.S. Navy issue?

I don't think anyone has ever been detecting this particular spot before and I plan on getting my brother in on a hunt sometime this next week. His detector is much better than mine and can get deeper targets. It will be fun to see what he digs up!

Just thought I'd share! Thanks for looking- Everyone on this board is so cool and willing to share their knowledge and I greatly appreciate it. Thank you! (Most of what I learned about this hobby I have learned by reading on this site and links from it.)

Wish I'd have had my detector when I lived in Northfield. You have been finding lots of great stuff!

Thanks! The camera? Nothing special really - just a GE A950 digital camera. It does have a pretty decent macro setting on it for close ups. Picked it up for under 50 bucks at a sale.

I did some more checking and found out the "Temple" medallion is a Shriner medallion from Lincoln, Nebraska. (After getting some of the crust off I could read the letters a bit easier..)

great digs-the ring is spectaculiar! all of it spectaculiar

you dun gud. and I know what you mean about hunting the savior spots. I got three little parks that always produce something. I usuallly wait til after a rain to hit the curb edge, or the dead center or the inner edge of the sidewalks. There's always something I missed the last time. With that said, nice haul.

I really like the first ring, that's an oldie for sure.

mr black youve been doing alot of digging but thats the only way to find good stuff enogh diggin it comes

nice pile!!!!! i always save a spot or two close by to hunt on short days.. MR TUFF

Thanks for all the kind comments! (Loved the term "Savior" spot! That's a great name for it!)

I did ID the medallion with the crust on it as a Masonic medallion from Lincoln, Nebraska. (sesostris shrine). My first Masonic piece - cool! The buckle I was able to find more information on by searching here on this forum (Imagine that! LOL!) and the anchor mark has been identified as the trademark of a company named "North & Judd". This company made spurs, horse tackle and other belt items. Makes sense as I did find the carriage decoration near this buckle. No luck on the lamp ID yet and I thought it was going to be pretty easy due to the patent date but I found out that there are a LOT of patent dates on oil lamp thumb-wheels. LOL!

Today is going to be a real special one for me. My 13 (soon to be 14) year old daughter is staying with me this weekend and she said she would like to go out on a hunt this afternoon! Hope she finds something cool!

Thanks again you guys!
