The farm thawed and the rain poured and turned the old site into a mosh pit of detecting heaven. More CW plates, brass, and minie balls, and capped busts, and seateds, and modern silver, IHPs, and other trinkets were had. My find of the day was a fairly intact crotal bell. You can see the rest. Looks like the sites going to go ahead and freeze up for the rest of the winter so we'll see what Spring holds in store for us.

Yeah when I threw it in my pouch it had a spot of mud on it and I was thinking to myself "No date, standing Q, as expected". Until I got it home and saw the date. That made it special.

Don't bet on it being frozen all winter. I will be watching it. And watching it. Etc. But it is SOSSOOOOOO windy there, when it's 75 degrees elsewhere, it will be 55 on the top of that hill.

Smokey, what do you make of the button. I am pretty sure it is pewter.

I was going to ask you the same thing. Pre 1830, probably colonial 1812 or Rev War. Could be a real goodie. What area was it in?

Upper hill towards the house, middle of the beans. Partial shank. I send you some other pics of it after I give it a coating.

That is one oddball site. Mid 18th century to last week's stuff in the field but heavy CW and 1940's coin spills. Probably kids collection or something. I found a 1908 dated aluminum token.

Will clean it off and ring in the new year, lol.

Purposely not finding any LC's so you can show me how it's done.
