My sites are quickly fading. Been going over the same old spots digging as many nails as possible, trying to come across good targets that are masked.

Coins Obverse 092824.jpgCoins Reverse 092824.jpg

The two cent piece didn't even make a peep until I had cleared several nails from the area.

Balloon Foil 092824.jpg

This too did not produce a signal until nails were cleared from the area.

Not sure what it is. Appears to be copper foil. Says "The Great Mammoth Baloon Air Ship, 95 Feet High, Will Ascend to the Clouds, Freighted With People Each Day of Exhibition, City of Paris". Wonder if it is referencing the 1878 World's Fair in Paris? :dontknow:

Tea Cup 092824.jpg

Almost put this one in the trash pouch thinking it was a piece of plumbing. Appears to be a miniature tea cup. Possibly pewter.

Odds and Ends 092824.jpg

And then a number of oddball finds. Some just appearing as I dug quite a few holes to remove nails.

Today's finds...

1868 Two Cent Piece
1939 Mercury Dime
Foil piece depicting The Great Mammoth Baloon Air Ship
Miniature Pewter (?) Tea Cup
Four hole button made from shell, mother of pearl
Playing die
Folding straight razor
Three pieces of bling

way to stay after it, your perseverance paid off

Looks to me like the digging out the nails paid off for you. Congratulations! It appears you still have finds to recover there! Thanks for posting.

Your determination to continue rewards you

Congratulations on that 2 cent piece! Those are super rare. Keep digging those nails. I accidentally learned, this year, that iron is our friend. I shifted to digging iron one evening to find the barrel and cylinder for a Colt pocket pistol I'd dug, and I pulled up a CSA in a hunted out field full of iron. The CSA didn't make a peep at six inches deep, and the only reason I got it is because it fell out from a patch of nails I'd dug. It's a different type of detecting, and is hard work but I'm now a big believer in unmasking by digging nails.
