All Treasure Hunting
Yesterday, I went back to the old stone chimney site where I dug my "US" American / Indian Wars buckle last year.
This time I was equipped with my new Tesoro Vaquero. The finds were tough due to all the pieces of the old tin roof scattered everywhere. I did dig up two small hibernating Black snakes in separate holes during the day. :o I put them back to sleep though. :sleepy2:
This place has turned up an unbelievable amount of old harmonica reeds. I'm thinking they may tie in with the old mill that is just down the hill. :dontknow:
Nothing too fantastic found, but the two old brooches were pretty neat to find.
Thanks for looking,
MM

What a great place to hunt! Can you tell me what the small round thing that looks like a steering wheel is? I have found several of those and have no clue. Thanks!

Seems that new machine is working out for you!

Thanks Rob.
Yep, I put the Silver uMax up for now. I can hear it trying to get out of the box and get my attention. Kind of like those Swiffer mop commercials. :laughing9:

Doug,

Nice work! Is the hockey stick shaped piece a gun piece?

Thanks BB.
I would love to know what that piece is. I dug it out in the woods.
Still trying to find CW relics out on this property. It's in line with the Yankee troop movement through the area at the end of the war.
I'll keep looking.

Those are some nice finds. The reins guide is a neat find also. Very fancy.

Re: More Chimney Finds and a ***CONTEST***

Not bad for a Jack Wagon!! I like the jewelry and the reign guide as well. Good eye BB as I thought I had seen the "hockey stick" piece too. It's #11 in "Excavated Artifacts from Battlefields and Campsites of the Civil War" by Stanley Phillips on page 174 and is is described as a "Brass side plate for a Miss. rifle". GREAT find MM, Q.

"Kind of like those Swiffer mop commercials." :laughing7: Now that's funny...Now that would be freaky if you saw you the umax peering out your house window when you leave to go detecting.

Doug, Good to see that you didn't get lynched during the "yankee" bashing at the museum on Sunday. Ha! Good finds!
