Aaron and I were at Camp Hill today and found more weird stuff. I got the usual clad and other junk but also came across what might be postal tag(the rusty piece of rectangular iron on the left) that reads,"MR. NI SHI-NING, 330 WARD ST. APT. 8, PITTSBURGH, PA. 15213". And a firemans badge that says "LINCROFT F. co. MIDDLETOWN TWP. FIRE DEPT." in the middle I'm guessing is his badge number "219". Aaron found some more unfired musket balls, which seems to be the only type were finding, must be pocket drops. A lot of them are just laying on the surface? I'm wondering if I could find this fireman and get his badge back to him? I have no idea how old it is and theres no middletown twp. around here? Thanks for looking

Only thing I could think of on the postal thingy is possibly an ID tag for an old trunk,, or personal suitcase?...
Neat badge though, and nice of you to try and find the owner. I'm sure it would really make their day to get it back...
Continued Good luck, & Happy hunting~

Nice Finds.
I have an aunt in camp hill.

congrats on the badge

Thanks everybody, Joe I contacted Middletown and tried a few different extentions but just left a bunch of messages. I did speak to a detective who was pretty excited to hear about it and is working on figuring it out. He did say "I thought you guys always just pocketed everything you found". Jeff I've met a lot of people over there, they are really friendly people and sent me a bunch of pictures of the property from the time of the Drexel's that we don't have at the historical society yet. It's nice of people to share their history so we can display it for future generations.

cool on what the detective said. it's nice to know he learned something from You ;D

Don't know how close you are, My aunt lives over
on Kensington Dr. (payes) My understanding that area used to be Farm Fields
at one time.

Jeff do you mean the Camp Hill in Fort Washington Pa.? It was one of Washington's three main defensive hills during the battle of Whitemarsh. I have heard of another Camp Hill to the West of here where there is some debate over a battle being fought there, I have heard of it a few times. The Camp Hill we were at is owned by a Christian missionary group now. Does your aunt live in the Camp Hill in Fort Washington? If she does chances are I may have met her, everybody there is very friendly and comes out to shake our hands. Great people

must be a different Camp hill Then cam.
I was thinking Cumberland County
accross the river from Harrisburg

I think I have heard of it, was there a battle fought there?

Looks like another good day Ryan. Congrats! Sorry I didn't show up but I wasn't certain you were going and I did not want to take liberties at "your" spot. would love to hunt with you guys again.

Cool finds,

HH

Could Have been the High water Mark of the civil war.
I seem to remember seeing Breastworks in some of the Fields
as a Kid.
I know they set up Breastworks along the Susquehanna to Protect Harrisburg
But the Confederates never made it that far.
I'm not a Big Civil war Buff as I live too far north,
to have Purpose to Major research on it :(

Sorry about that Debbie, I wasn't planning on going either till late that night when Brian and I got in touch. These aren't from the park though, there from another one of Washington's hills that's all private property. I've got a few places right now but none that could accomidate a group the size of the one we had a few weeks ago. I'm trying to find another spot that would be big enough for us all to get together again, that was a lot of fun!

No luck finding him yet, I had no idea there were so many Middletown TWP.'s around here. It would be really nice to get it back to him.

Lincroft Fire Company Middletown History

STORY OF LINCROFT FIRE COMPANY 1932 - 2002

The Lincroft Fire Company was organized in May of 1932 by a group of enthusiastic and
persistent individuals who saw the need for fire protection in the growing residential area
of greater Lincroft. This area or what we would call our primary response district
would include the area between the Garden State Parkway, Everett Road, the
Swimming River, and the Swimming River Reservoir. Middletown Fire Company
No. 8, River Plaza Hose Company, Holmdel Fire Company, and the Westside Fire Company
of Red Bank were had previously served this area. Presently within this area coverage
consist of Brookdale College, Christian Brothers Academy, Thompson County Park,
Sunnyside Recreation Area, Avaya (Former AT&T building on Middletown Lincroft Road),
Telacordia, Lucent Technologies (Red Hill Road), Luftman Towers Complex,
Extended Stay America, Sunrise Assisted Living, and a section of the Garden State
Parkway. The Fire Company also assists the River Plaza Hose Company, and will
responds to neighboring communities when our services are needed.

Robert Cook of Tinton Falls who owned property in Lincroft was on of the prime
movers in organizing the company. He would later organize the North side Fire
Company of Tinton Falls.

The Fire Company was admitted to the Middletown Township Fire Department in 1934.
The department is one of the world’s largest volunteer fire departments with 11 stations,
over 40 pieces of equipment, and over 400 active firefighters.
