Mods cleaned up the Drinking Goblet (Banner) Post

Sounds fine/ok to me,seemed like he sure had a bad attitude towards artifacts and collecting in general, always talking about financial gain and trying to 1-up everyone!Thats NOT what artifact hunting/collecting is all about to me ;D

I agree WV! Arent we all just here to share knowledge and enjoy each others finds? That said I sure would like to see some changes to the banner requirments. Seems there are always some crappy silver or gold modern jewelry making banner but a 10,000yo artifact doesnt get the recognition it deserves! Granted I am nobody to talk I cant even press banner button as I only have cell access at the moment, but let me say when i get inet where i live u can bet I am guna push that button on darn near every native artifact i see!

Sounds good buzz,i may have an item or 2 thats banner worthy ,never thought about it much, but yea Indian artifacts are not given the respect/appreciation that they deserve by a many a folk!

Why should it matter if its a recent find or a find from say 2 years ago as long as it hasnt been posted or on banner already. A banner artifact is a banner artifact reguardless of when it was found. But I dont own the site Im just a member. I say vote banner on more native artifacts!

I can agree with that buzz,an artifact is an artifact no matter when you found it ,and as long as you found it personally(the poster) i dont see a problem with more banner vote's!

I have to agree with you guys. I definitely think there are alot of banner worthy finds from this section of the forum that are overlooked. To me mass produced metal coins and metal pieces don't even compare to unique hand crafted artifacts and tools of survival that could be thousands of years old. I know that's not the way it works around here, that's fine by me I rarely pay attention to the banner anyway. If artifacts could tell a story I'd much rather be interested in what a 10,000 year old projectile point had to say rather than a quarter or a diamond ring, etc. Jmo, no offense intended.

There are 10 spots on the Banner. If you take out "today's finds" type general categories, this is one of the busiest individual sections on the forum (from a total number of posts point of view.). Makes sense that we should have at least one piece up their most of the time (and we've had a couple of pieces at times.) Just nominate good pieces for banners and I'm sure we'll get there.

Side note, I have a metal detector, so I at least know one cool person with one :laughing9:. But I've never understood the excitement of going to a public park and finding $0.32, a bottle top, a broken key chain, and something that looks like a rust blob. And then bringing it all home, taking pictures, and posting it... People only metal detect because they can't figure out how to find relics with out hearing a beep, beep, beep, beeeeeep. :dontknow:

LMAO...thats great, but hey your pretty much right 4 the most part.(meaning not ALL people that metal detect are fools)

LOL @ Josh! Yes I metal detect also but not the tot lots, Mostly old home sites and battle fields. On my fb page I have some nice relics 4 slave tags butt load of bullets n buttons but none of that stuff compares to my ugliest dinged up native artifact! Sold the tags but the only native artifacts I have ever sold was due to a divorce bout 12 years ago.
