✅ SOLVED Modern Bone Chewed By Rodent

I was out metal detecting a very old wooded area in R.I. along a stream and found this bone on the bank of the stream against the base of a tree. The bone was partially buried with only the weathered part exposed. I though it was probably from a coyote kill, but then realized the bone had been cut and looked worked on buy human hands, the marks looked to uniform and deliberate to have been chewed on by a animal. I have no idea what it is and maybe someone on this forum could Identify it. Thanks

Charlie is correct bone has been chewed on by rodents and cut is obviously from a modern saw.

Why are you so upset? You asked and were given an opinion..... Also some close ups of the flat edge in focus will help in telling if we are correct or not. So far from the photos you provided it indeed looks like a bone cut by a bone saw that rodents chewed on. I had a ex who had pet rats.....the teeth marks on everything those little SOBS left are impossible to forget and still exist on some of my stuff....and it looks exactly like the marks on the ends of your bone.

Can I digress from the subject to relate a story? In my teens farmers in the area,it being one of the largest rice growing areas in the world,had bumper stickers made up that read"Eat Rice Today" .Proving the old adage that idle hands are the devil,s workshop,a bunch of us had some stickers made up with the word ---T On them,same size and type as the originals.We proceeded to stick these over the word rice every time we saw one of those bumper stickers.it took about 3 weeks before any one realized what had been done. Wasn,t much fallout,and most folks got a good laugh out of it.We eventually fessed up and all was forgiven.Ah,days of youth!!
