Hello Folks,

On my second hunt today, I went to a park where
they took out the tot lot!! I hate loosing a good tot
lot,

The park has the baseball field that is used by The
University of Arkansas at Little Rock. (ULAR)

I guess they did not want people hanging out in the
parking lot. It is a rough part of town.

I thought I would hunt where the tot lot used to be.

The very first target I dug was a wheaty,

I thought,,,, Silver?,,,,,,, NO!!!! Not this time???

I was getting flustered. There were lots of deep pull
tabs that were so deep, it made them sound smooth.
I just have trouble not digging those..... When I was
about to give it up, then out comes a ring!!!

It had some writing inside, but I could not make it out.
When I got home, I confirmed my suspicions,

It is a very light 10k yellow gold ring with a light blue
stone?

But a couple of grams of 10K gold is still a good find.
It made my soreness kind of melt away. Funny how
finding a piece of gold just makes me feel better.. lol

I dug several deep targets. My Compadre was going
deep today,

I got a small hand full of dirty clad, and what looks like
a real old rivet???

I started early this morning..... I had lunch and hunted
again.

But the day ended on a really good note.

Nice day for Arkie park huntin.

Thanks fer l@@kin,

Nice ring the stone is probably doped topaz (irradiated to bring out the color) I would have it tested. I am wondering how well that Gold tester do dat works? My dad has a Presidium Gem tester that works really well. Also most Natural stones will glow under a black light, diamonds do for sure since I have tested it.

That little car looks kinda unique. Be sure to check the value in the books cause it could be very valuable. Never know.

What a sweety of a car never seen one of those and have found many,I love em nice ring You deserved that with all thos deep dug tabs congrats Rob. :coffee2:

nice find there tabdog, are you still poking and poppin or diggin plugs? That 10k is better than the aluminum I dug yesterday by a long shot.

I am still pokin holes with my digger.

But there was no grass there. I did
not wast time trying to be neet,
except I filled them back in and
tamped it flat with my foot.

That made the recoveries much faster.
Plus there was a lot of sand from the
tot lot which made it easier also.

Happy Huntin,

Man, I don't know how you do it. Every once in a while I'll get an itch to go to our baseball fields near me to dig tabs until I find a gold ring. The only thing I can see missing at these fields are quarters. One guy that I know of used to detect there and all he obviously dug were quarters. I can dig all the clad dimes and pennies I want. The problem for me is the tabs are on six inch centers.....lol
The fields were built around 1983 and I'm convinced there's gold but I can only make it through about 25 tabs and I'm done!
It's tough digging too, the park is in the flood plain and the fields are basically built on top of a huge hard packed gravel bar, there's very little soil and it's all tangled up with bermuda grass roots. I wish I could persevere through it to find my first gold but I just can't make myself do it.....lol

Sweet ring! I don't think I have the patience to dig that many pull tabs. Explains why I am not finding gold rings in the turf.

I think it's aqua-marine a birthstone. Nice ring and I know what you mean about the tot-lot's. Love them.

Happy Hunting

WTG on finding your 10k. Looks like you did alright on the clad count.....Matt

Those bermuda grass roots are a killer.

Hay JD,

Two years ago, I learned from Monty how to find small
gold jewelry. I begged for and borrowed a couple of small
gold rings. I planted them a few inches in the ground, and
found to my dismay that my new digital detector with a
display would not even pick up one of the rings. It would
not have given a signal on the gold ring I found in this
thread.

I went through 3 more machines with displays. None would
pick up the ring I planted. Then dealer sent me a Cibola.
It worked. Not only did it work, it far surpassed my digetal
machines. Now all I have is 5 Tesoroes.

I proceeded to dig thousands of targets from the unhunted
tot lots in my area. I dug every thing that made any kind of
sound at all. Then I dug tens of thousands of targets in the
same manor.

I learned fast. I learned to ID targets and determine their
depth and size. I learned to recover targets efficiently.

The tot lots ran out for the most part, so I started using my
new found knowledge to go outside the tot lots.

I found a swimming pool where I found some jewelry around
the steel reinforced concrete deck. I started hitting that place.
It was the trashiest place I ever hunted.

I started hunting that pool with determination. It was extremely
difficult. But, I started slowly pulling gold jewelry out of it. I was
determined to get every thing out of there. It took 6 months
before the targets slowed down.

I found Lots of jewelry, including a 1/5th ct diamond ring.

I learned so much from that, I just kept expanding.

My lowly Compadre will get at least 9 inches in an air test
on that small gold ring in this thread.

That gold ring registers as foil.

That is how I got started finding jewelry.

Hap-py Huntin,

Great pics, tabdog. That is a lot of perserverance, and you got a nice reward for it!

I know of a park where there are no coins, just pulltab signals, and I have thought about recovering a few hundred of em to see if there's any rings hiding in there... :icon_thumright: Looks like somebody went through there with a digital ID machine and ignored everything below zinc penny.

As always, I enjoy your posts.
