Don't mean to call this guys find out in the new Garrett searcher but it has me curious. I found the same thing last year and to me it seemed like a suspender type clasp or light woman's decorative belt buckle maybe due to its thickness. I find similar looking buckles when searching for civil war wreath buckles but none the same. Can someone confirm or deny this as a "civil war buckle"

Not a tongue and wreath buckle. There is no way to fit the tongue through the wreath. Possibly a lady's dress buckle. Turn of the 20th C.

I would guess the small holes in the center had something attached - like a cameo or lion head or Gibson Girl. The other end of the belt had a hook to make it look like a military style belt.

That is VERY entertaining to me. Thx for posting!

You seam to have the same thoughts as I did. Wonder how no one at garrett noticed that? Although I have seen coins misidentified in the searcher in the past as well.

It has flowers on it! That's great. That makes me LOL.

Group think. Someone 'says' it's a CW wreath buckle and everyone's thought process is skewed that direction.

We suffer from that on this forum occasionally. Although it's better than it used to be...
